Tibetan Education in a Virtual Age
Tibetan Language Session ​
The pandemic has made education increasingly challenging to deliver, causing teachers, students and parents worldwide to adapt swiftly. Tibetan language educators share how they have created innovative virtual platforms to reignite the teaching of Tibetan language.
​
Fighting Food Insecurity 
The pandemic has caused a global crisis in food insecurity. While massive unemployment and weak social safety nets have driven millions of people to seek food support, many community groups, networks of chefs and established food banks are responding quickly to meet this growing need.
​
Science for Humanity
This panel convenes remarkable people who use the tools of science, vital now more than ever, to solve pressing societal problems and needs in engineering and medicine, highlighting the human face of science. 
​

Resettlement Workshop 
Tibetan Language Session ​
​This summer, Machik Khabda convened a global conversation on Tibetan pastoralists resettlement. As a continuation, this workshop will provide insightful thoughts on the 10+year long resettlement policy impacts on local pastoralists draw from the speaker's field research with analysis of the featured story, Black Fox Valley, by Tsering Dondrup. 

Social, Emotional & Ethical Learning
Tibetan Language Session
The pandemic highlights interdependence and the importance of cultivating compassion and resiliency in the face of adversity. This workshop is about engaging in reflection and practices for compassion, and to learn about the underpinning theories.

Rise of Feminist Voices in Tibet 
Gender equity and feminist discourse have always been vital to Machik’s purpose. The speaker Sang Mota will offer insights into the key areas of concern for women inside Tibet today, especially in light of the tragic murder of a Tibetan woman on her livestream program.

Language Revitalization 
Many languages around the world are at risk of extinction, underscoring the importance of language diversity.  With greater access to technologies, this session features innovative approaches to Tibetan language revitalization.

Growing Resilience in a Time of Crisis 
Build Your Resilience through the COVID-19 Pandemic: Three expert authors share and discuss practical tools through the following volumes: Handling Anxiety in a Crisis, Online-Communication, and the Life-Saving Skill of Story.

Women and Genderqueer Folx Exploring STEM 
Tibetan Language Session
This session is a safe space for Tibetan women and genderqueer folx in STEM to share insights, lessons, and struggles with like-minded peers and thereby encouraging others to explore these possibilities.  Participants are requested to respect the privacy of the speakers and attendees.

Gender Based Violence 
Tibetan Language Session
As a global problem, gender-based violence disproportionately harms women. Despite this prevalence, GBV is largely unreported and fed by the cycle of violence. In this Tibetan language panel, speakers will expand on these gender-based violence in the Tibetan context.

Reproductive Health and Rights in a Pandemic 
While women and girls constantly face barriers to sexual and reproductive health information and services, the global pandemic has further limited access for millions. 
​ 
How to Khabda 
Tibetan Language Session
Machik Khabda is a global conversation for local communities to explore books, film, art, music and so on from inside Tibet today. You will learn about how to host or participate in a local Khabda in your area and will experience a mini Khabda spotlighting Pema Tseden’s short story "Orgyan's Teeth".

Making Media 
A new generation of Tibetan and Himalayan peoples have entered the media industry and are creating new spaces for their voices and viewpoints. This panel serves highlights the work of three media makers who are pioneering new spaces for their communities.
